Buongiorno amici! Chiudiamo questo Giovedì, con leggero anticipo, questa settimana di Sveglia Dance focalizzata sulla musica energetica con un brano che é una vera bomba, primo singolo di una formazione Danese che ha fatto del suo sound originale la chiave del proprio successo... Loro sono i Safri Duo e oggi ci ascoltiamo la loro Played-a-Live!
Duo artistico composto da Uffe Savery e Morten Friis (dalle cui iniziali del cognome nasce il nome del gruppo), nacque già moltissimi anni fa, intorno ai primi anni 80, quando i due si conobbero durante gli studi in conservatorio e decisero di suonare insieme.
Entrambi ottimi percussionisti, produssero ben 6 album di rivisitazione di brani classici nel corso degli anni 90, e il loro grande talento fu infine notato dal DJ e Produttore Michael Parsberg che nel 2000 li fece mettere sotto contratto dalla Universal Music danese.
Lo stesso anno esce il loro primo e davvero inaspettato singolo, Played-a-Live, un esplosivo mix di elementi classici uniti con Trance, Tribal e Pop che fu uno dei maggiori successi Europei di quell'anno, rendendoli noti al grande pubblico e aprendo loro la strada ad altre produzioni di successo nonché a numerose collaborazioni con altri artisti.
Dei Safri Duo in generale mi è sempre piaciuto il loro coreografico stile di esibizione, in piedi davanti al pubblico e senza tamburi davanti per far apprezzare meglio la loro grande abilità con le percussioni.... un vero spettacolo che mi sarebbe piaciuto vedere dal vivo, ma, nonostante siano ancora in attività, sembrerebbe abbiano abbandonato la Trance per tornare a cose piu tranquille... che peccato!

Good morning friends! This Thursday I have to close up earlier this Dance Wakeup week focused on energy music, but I make it with a track that's a real "bomb", the first single of a Danish group that made of their original sound the key to success ... They are the Safri Duo and today we listen to their Played-a-Live!
This artistic duo composed of Uffe Savery and Morten Friis (whose initials of their surname were used to name the group) was born many years ago, around the early 80's, when they met during conservatory studies and decided to play together.
Both great percussionists produced six albums of reworked classics during the 90s, and their great talent was finally noticed by the DJ and Producer Michael Parsberg, who in 2000 made them contracted by Danish Universal Music.
That same year, they released their first and truly unexpected single, Played-a-Live, an explosive mix of classical elements united with Trance, Tribal and Pop that was one of the biggest European hits of that year, making them known to the large public and opening their way to other successful productions as well as numerous collaborations with other artists.
Of Safri Duo I have always enjoyed their choreographic style of performance, standing in front of the audience often without drums in front to better appreciate their great ability with percussion .... a real show that I would like to assist in a live show but, altought they are still in activity, it seems they have left behind the Trance music to dedicate themselves to more calm genres... What a pity!
